about

Karen and Pete have often enjoyed playing Martin Wynne’s Nos. 1-4 at sessions with flute player Mick Mulvey in Cryan’s Teach Ceoil, Carrick On Shannon. Sligo fiddler, Martin Wynne, the composer of these tunes, spent time in London in the 1930s and 40s. He later moved to New York where he taught fiddle player Brian Conway, who popularised this set of tunes along with his sister, fiddle player and teacher, Rose Flanagan. The second and third reels in this set – composed by Josephine Keegan and the Clare-born, Waterford-based concertina player, TV producer and researcher, Edel Fox, respectively – were part of a set of tunes by female composers performed by the London-wide collective, In Good Company (formerly Fair Plé Ladies of London), to celebrate International Women’s Day in 2019.

Maureen Linane Hankins (accordion), Dee Havlin (flute), Brogan McAuliffe (concertina), Pete Quinn (piano), Karen Ryan (fiddle).
