about

We learnt the first tune from the 1995 self-titled debut album by Moving Cloud. The tune was first brought to the fore by Sligo fiddle player James Morrison, who recorded a number of hugely influential 78s in New York between 1921 and 1936 for a variety of labels including Columbia, Gennet, New Republic, Okeh, and Vocalion. Elaine and Karen learnt the classic reel ‘The Sunny Banks’ from their teacher, Tommy Maguire.

Elma McElligott (sax), Chris O’Malley (piano), Annie Quinn (banjo), Karen Ryan (banjo).
